The Story and Evolution of the BetterLGU Directory

eHeads × BetterGov | Ascendion

02 · The Spark

Everyone Started Building at Once

  1. 1As momentum picked up, community members began spinning up their own BetterLGU sites.
  2. 2The "oops" moment: two builders working on the same LGU at the same time, neither aware of the other.

We needed a single source of truth, so builders find each other before they start.

03 · The Solution

One Directory, Every Portal

Every BetterLGU portal is listed with its status, so you can check who's on an LGU before you build.

Planned

Someone plans to build the portal but hasn't started yet.

Work in Progress

The portal is under active development.

Active

The portal is live, with someone keeping it up to date.

Stale · Open for AdoptionPlanned, no updates for 30+ days

An idea that never got started doesn't get to lock up a city.

The tag tells the next builder the LGU is free to adopt.

04 · Real Challenges

The Hard Part Wasn't the Code

It was coordinating people.

1

The Overlap

Two PRs come in for the same LGU, from builders who didn't know about each other.

2

Cities vs. Provinces

Some builders want to take on a whole province, including cities and municipalities others are already building.
